Colleen, I only watched this part once, but I could SWEAR that the Abi comment about thunderstorms was included because she said: “See, I told you the sound comes first, then the light”. Love ya bae! #Abi’suniverse #soundb4light??????

  2. Colleen says:

hahaha oh Abi. It figures that she’d have it backwards just as much as it figures that I’d not even pick up on it! Thanks for letting me know! #loveyoubae

Abby’s statement was inaccurate. I am pretty sure she said you hear the thunder, and then you see the lightening. Light travels much faster than sound. That is why you see the lightening before you hear the thunder. I don’t have any way to rematch the episode. But when I saw it I assumed this was common knowledge, and that they were trying to make her look foolish. If this was not the motivation, then instead they are spreading scientific misconceptions.

I didn’t even see the other comment before I posted, but I am glad someone else noticed this. The second time I heard Colleen mention it, I was compelled to search out this website in the name of science education. LOL! 🙂
